About

Art & Tech Days is a festival of media art, technology, and digital culture in Košice that combines art with technology. It is a profile event of the Košice – UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts project, in which Creative Industry Košice represents the city of Košice.

The festival aims to bring together the innovative potential of creativity and digital technology through an international conference, practical workshops, audio-visual performances, interactive installations and exhibitions, art events, and networking activities.

World-awarded names took the stage with impactful topics inspired by the theme of the 8th year of the festival: PERIPHERY. We were invited to step into the margins of creativity and innovation, where breakthrough ideas are formed.

We met our distinguished speakers:

  • Winy Maas – one of the most influential contemporary architects, urban planner, and visionary of future cities, founder of the MVRDV architectural studio
  • Mitchell Joachim – a pioneer of bio-design, renowned architect, and co-founder of the nonprofit research group for art, architecture, and urban design, Terreform ONE ®
  • Maya Magnat – performer, speaker, and educator exploring ways to use technology to create new forms of intimacy
  • Nahum Romero Zamora – artist, space culture expert, and founder of the KOSMICA Institute
  • Barbora Maronkova – international communication expert, political, social, and media affairs analyst
  • Benjamin James – architect focused on the intersection of generative design and new technologies, founder of Atlas
  • Regina Loukotová – architect and rector of ARCHIP, the first private architectural school with teaching in English in Prague

In addition to the conference, the festival offered a series of professional and high-quality workshops. Visitors were also invited to the opening of two media art exhibitions connected with multi-genre performance.

The opening of the festival was on November 20 and took the form of an inspiring X-Utopia Debate and intermedial performances – 20 years of Atelier of New Media and the performace of Slovak multi-instrumentalist and music producer Stroon.

The festival was held from November 18 to 23, 2024, in Kasárne/Kulturpark and Kunsthalle in Košice.
