Identification of new opportunities for the growth and development of CCI in Košice

Research

About

The project, in line with the goals set in the Cultural Strategy of the city, aims to identify and leverage new opportunities for the growth of the cultural and creative industries in Košice. It is based on the creation of a database that will record the existing physical infrastructure available for potential adaptation within the cultural and creative sectors. In addition to collecting and evaluating quantitative data, we will utilize qualitative research methods. To gather examples of best practices from successful projects within the city, we will conduct a series of semi-structured interviews.

The primary target groups of the project are individuals and organizations involved in the cultural and creative industries, experts from the academic and private sectors specializing in cultural and creative activities, and entities from local government.

Project Goals

  • The creation of a comprehensive database of properties suitable for cultural purposes, with a focus on underutilized or inadequately used spaces. The goal is to establish an informational foundation that will guide the next phase of the research. In this regard, CIKE is already working on mapping municipal assets, and the project’s data will be supplemented and verified.
  • The second goal is to actively involve the local community in the mapping process, thereby aligning future initiatives with authentic demand. Qualitative research in the form of semi-structured interviews with stakeholders operating in the cultural and creative industries in Košice will complement the collected data by providing examples of best practices from culture and the creative industries as drivers of innovation development.

Project Outputs

  • A map of the city’s real estate assets, which can serve as a resource for the cultural and creative industries.
  • A research report analyzing the success factors and current challenges faced by the cultural and creative industries in Košice. It will provide a critical perspective on potential future developments.
  • The project outcomes will act as a catalyst, aiming to inspire the cultural and creative sectors towards collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth.

The program was supported using public funding by the Slovak Arts Council and was co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.
